Obituary: Aaseby, Emma M.

Age 96

AASEBY, Emma M. (Age 96) Died September 19, 2015 in Spokane, Washington.

Emma was born, December 14, 1918 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to Carl E. and Vera L. Carlson.

She was united in marriage to Palmer J. Aaseby on October 16, 1935 in a home wedding.

Palmer and Emma were long time residents of Spokane, having moved here July 14, 1942.

Over the years, they both enjoyed the family cabin at Loon Lake, and later two cabins on the Pend Oreille River.

Traveling to foreign countries with several of Palmer’s brothers and sisters was also a highlight of their life.

Emma, a long time member of Shadle Park Presbyterian Church, was also active in Cub and Girl scouting.

She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star of Spokane, El Karnak Temple of the Daughters of the Nile, Past Guardian of Jobs Daughters, Bethel #7 Spokane, and Past Grand Marshall of Jobs Daughters Guardian Council of Washington.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Palmer J. Aaseby.

She leaves a daughter, Janice (George) Solandros; son, Wayne “Ozz” Aaseby; and six grandchildren, Nick Solandros, Chris Solandros, Kari Solandros (Sage) Farwell, Todd (Charlene) Aaseby, Eric Aaseby, and Sven Aaseby.

Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, along with many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at Riplinger’s Chapel of Flowers (4305 N. Division, Spokane, WA) on Tuesday, September 29th, 2015 at 3:00 pm.

Officiating will be Emma’s niece, Pastor Gail Aaseby Gutterud from Peace-Lutheran Church in Post Falls, ID.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or Shadle Park Presbyterian Church.

Emma’s remains will be laid to rest privately with her husband Palmer, in “Christus Garden” of Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
