Golden Bears at Huskies

Kickoff: 2 p.m., Husky Stadium, Seattle

Records: Cal (3-0, 0-0 Pac-12) at UW (2-1, 0-0)

TV/Radio: Pac-12 Wash. Radio: 107.1-FM

Overview: Is Washington’s defense for real? The Huskies will surely find out against a Cal team that has one of the more dangerous offenses in the Pac-12. The Bears won a close game in Austin last week, 45-44, over Texas. Impressive as Cal’s offense was against the Longhorns, the Huskies should draw hope from the fact Texas gained 650 yards against Cal. Golden Bears RB Daniel Lasco, who rushed for 1,115 yards last season, missed the Texas game and will be a game-time decision. … Cal hasn’t beaten Washington since 2008, and hasn’t won at Husky Stadium since 2005.

Eagles at Vandals

Kickoff: 6 p.m., Kibbie Dome, Moscow, Idaho

Records: Idaho (1-2), Wofford (1-2)

Internet/Radio: ESPN3/590/1080-AM

Overview: Godspeed to Idaho’s rushing defense in this one. A week after being gashed by Wofford for 326 yards on the ground, albeit in a 41-38 win, the Vandals will play host to the top rushing attack in the Sun Belt Conference for their conference opener. The Eagles of Georgia Southern ran up 413 yards on Western Michigan and another 383 yards on The Citadel in back-to-back wins leading up to their trip to Moscow. Matt Linehan throwing a pick-six in the fourth quarter put an end to Idaho’s upset bid in Statesboro, Georgia, last season. Ball security will be key for him after throwing two interceptions against Wofford last week.

Pirates at Panthers

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Chapman Stadium, Orange, California

Record: Whitworth (2-0), Chapman (0-1)

Radio: 1230-AM

Overview: The Pirates dominated La Verne last week, rolling to a 39-0 halftime lead. But, Whitworth’s backup players didn’t perform with urgency and coach Rod Sandberg sent the starters back into the game. During his postgame speech, Sandberg paused for several seconds to let the sting of the 20-0 run by La Verne sink in for the players. Chapman was ranked until it got dismantled 52-14 by No. 4 Linfield on Sept. 12. But the Panthers have had two weeks to prepare for the uptempo Whitworth attack. The Pirates will be without receiver Anthony Fullman, who was lost to a broken collarbone, and receiver Chase Takaki, who also hurt a shoulder. Stepping in will be Kevin Thomas (Gonzaga Prep) and Michael McKeown. Last year, the Panthers beat Whitworth 49-34 at the Pine Bowl.
