BERG, Alan
(Age 91)

Went to be with our Savior March 25, 2016.

He was born at home on November 22, 1924 to Lucy and Peter Berg in Clarkston, WA.

He spent his childhood on a cattle ranch near Deer Park, WA and he loved the outdoors.

Some of his favorite activities were fishing, riding horses and working on the ranch.

He graduated from Deer Park HS, served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and graduated from the University of California at Davis.

He married Dolores “Dee” J.

Castle in 1947 and they had three daughters Alana, Kathy and Becky.

Alan pursued a career in the insurance industry for 46 years.

During that time, he was elected president of Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Washington.

During the latter years of his career, he owned RJ Martin Insurance and served as vice president at Fidelity Associates Insurance Company.

Alan was a member of Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church for 63 years and faithfully served as an elder and a deacon.

He was a member of the Country Homes Kiwanis Club for 35 years and also served on the Mead School Board of Directors from 1964-1972 in which he served as president.

During retirement, Alan and Dee traveled to many places and lived their final years at Fairwinds Retirement Community.

They are survived by Alana Lindsey (Tom), Kathy Walters-Hite (Bernie) and Becky Berg (Grant Cragun); 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dee, seven siblings and son-in-law Marc Walters.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church.
