Obituary: Weiler, Mary Lynn “Lynn”

Age 76

WEILER,
Mary Lynn “Lynn”
(Age 75)

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, community volun- teer and friend peacefully left us on April 2 at Hospice House North.

Though she left us sooner than we hoped, she told us she was ready to go after idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis took away her ability to live as fully as she insisted.
Born April 15, 1940 to Bert and Rachel Jarrett in Hartley, TX, Lynn met husband of 58 years, Edward Weiler in Texas.

Married on May 31, 1957 in Dalhart, TX, the couple relocated to Spokane shortly after, settling into the Hillyard neighborhood where they lived ever since.

Lynn was a tireless community advocate.

She gave generously of her heart, time and talents.

Some of her many volunteer activities included being a victim/witness advocate for Spokane Courts, a volunteer for the rape crisis center, and an active member of Kiwanis, as well as belonging to the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council where she was a leader in organizing the annual Bighorn Outdoor Adventure Show, recruiting many family members to work the silver mine.

Never one to give up on her beloved Hillyard neighborhood, Lynn was also a founding volunteer for COPS Northeast.

Her heart and spirit believed that if you want to see change in the world, get up and do it!

And she did, time and time again.

She was treasured by her grandchildren, eagerly assuming the role of ‘fun’ grandma with trips to Disneyland and Silverwood, frequent babysitting, and adventures on the family property in Springdale.

One of her greatest joys was seeing her grandchildren have children, and getting to know her great-grandchildren these last few years.

Lynn held herself to the highest moral standards, but was accepting of all others.

She strived to love without judgment through the good times and the bad.

She took people for who they were and as they were.

She once wrote, “Your love for Jesus will get you through the rough times; your love for each other will make the rest of the time precious.”

Thank you, Lynn, for making our time with you precious and for helping us always get through the rough times.

She is survived by husband Ed, children Frank (Lori), Mike (Dana), Randy (Jill), Janice Conner (Jen Whitworth) and Jerry (Sirapatsorn), 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Lynn is preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Bert Jr. and James, and sister Dorothy Conger.

Per her request, a Celebration of Life will be held April 30 from 10am-1pm at Inland Northwest Wildlife Council, 6116 N. Market.

All who knew and loved Lynn are welcome to attend.

Remembrance donations may be made to the West Valley Kiwanis Memorial Fund.
