Architecture

Lauren Welsh and Dillon Reese have joined Bernardo|Wills Architects. Welsh is an interior designer providing interior design services for new bank branches and corporate offices. She had worked for Uptic Studios. As a BIM/CAD technician, Reese has supplied drafting, design and construction support for the North Spokane Library remodel as well as commercial projects in Coeur d’Alene and Spokane.

Education

WSU Health Sciences Spokane has hired Dennis Reed as director of Development. He previously worked as director of Planned Giving at Eastern Washington University for five years and as chief development officer for Habitat for Humanity.

Competing against 31 teams from 23 universities, a team of Washington State University construction management students recently placed second in the Design-Build Institute of America’s national competition in Las Vegas. The team is comprised of Christie Andresen, Connor Schneider, Marie Landsverk, Steven Bradshaw and Sam Rykken. DBIA promotes integration of design and construction to make high-performance projects more efficient. The students developed a fictitious company to produce a design plan, schedule and cost estimates for a parking facility with a recreation field and classrooms. David Gunderson, associate professor of WSU’s School of Design and Construction, is the team adviser.

Government

Tyrel Stevenson is the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s new Legislative Director, handling tribal issues at the federal, state and local government levels. Stevenson worked at a public defender’s office in Canyon County for two years. He has also worked for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s Office of Legal Counsel since 2007.

Hospitality

The Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn received the Best Western Chairman’s Award, the chain’s honor given to the top five percent of over 2,100 hotels in outstanding quality standards based on cleanliness and maintenance inspection score. Hotels must meet requirements for design and high customer service scores to qualify for the award, the first for the Coeur d’Alene Inn.

Melissa Graves has been awarded with the Rising Star of the Year Award at the Washington Hospitality Association’s Stars of the Washington Lodging Awards dinner. Graves works at the Holiday Inn Express – Spokane Valley and was acknowledged for her exceptional service to guests, the community and the industry. She is the Head Breakfast Bar Host.

Medicine

Laura Joreteg has been hired by Columbia Medical Associates and will practice at South Hill Family Medicine. She attended medical school at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California. Joreteg’s professional interests include behavioral health and whole-person care.

Mining

Hecla Mining Company has been recognized by the National Mining Association for receiving independent certification NMA’s CORESafety system. CORESafety is a voluntary safety and health initiative emphasizing accident prevention using a risk-based management system with the objective of zero fatalities and a 50 percent injury rate reduction within five years of implementation.

Technology

Tammy Halvorson has been hired by OmniPark as Strategic Sales Manager for the western United States and Canada. Halvorson previously worked at T2 Systems and spent 22 years at Diamond Parking, working from valet to Regional Vice President. She will be focusing on using technology to optimize parking operations for surface lots, private lots and municipalities.
