Semitruck crash kills one in Whitman County

State troopers are investigating a crash involving a semitruck that killed a Western Washington woman Tuesday morning in Whitman County.

The Washington State Patrol said the crash happened just after 9 a.m. on state Highway 26 about eight miles west of Colfax.

Jessica R. Brooks, 26, of Sequim died at the scene. She was driving a Kia Sportage that struck an oncoming semitruck driven by Timothy A. Dean, 52, of Lewiston.

Brooks was driving too fast for the road conditions, the Washington State Patrol said.
