Get snowplow updates via city websites, hotlines

There are a variety of options if you are trying to stay on top of the latest snowplowing and street clearing conditions.

The city of Spokane Valley just joined Twitter and is tweeting out snow updates using the handle @CityofSV.

Visit www.spokanevalley.org and click on the “snow info” button on the front of the website for the latest information and to sign up for snow and road clearing alerts from the city.

The city of Spokane tweets at @SpokaneCity and often uses the hashtag #SpokaneStreets making it easy for Twitter users to find street updates from other sources.

Go to https://my.spokanecity.org/ and click on “streets” followed by “snow info” to see a map and get progress updates.

When the city of Spokane declares a “stage one snow event,” that means main streets and areas around the hospitals will be cleared.

During a “stage two snow event” residents are asked to move vehicles off all arterials and STA bus routes, move vehicles off downtown street parking spots overnight, move cars on residential streets to the even numbered side of the street, and to clear snow off curb ramps, fire hydrants, storm drains and mailboxes.

And sidewalks should be cleared of snow, too.

Residents in Spokane’s Browne’s Addition will be asked to move cars completely off streets so the city can plow during a “stage two snow event.”

Signs will be put out and the city will use social media to notify residents 24 hours before the plows take on Browne’s. Cars must be moved for plowing to be successful as the streets are too narrow to allow for plowing around parked cars.
