Architecture

The Idaho/Montana Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects has named Bernardo|Wills Architects as the recipient of a 2015 Merit Award in the General Design category in recognition of the firm’s landscape architecture design for the redevelopment of McEuen Park in Coeur d’Alene.

Finance

Northwest Farm Credit Services has named the Freeman School District as the recipient of a $2,500 Rural Community Grant to replace bleachers at the football and track complex. Northwest FCS awarded 62 rural grants totaling more than $134,000 in 2015 to improve the well-being of rural communities.

Health care

Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Respiratory Failure Certification after a rigorous on-site review. This certification demonstrates that the hospital is a national leader in providing care to patients who are experiencing respiratory failure from a variety of diseases. Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital in only the fifth hospital nationwide to earn this certification.

Nonprofit

The Inland Northwest Development Council elected new officers as follows: Kerry Wiltzius of Spokane Humane Society, president; Kristen Blanton of Community Colleges of Spokane, vice-president; D’Lynn Ottmar of Providence Health Care Foundation, vice-president membership and treasurer; Vicki Egesdal of Inland Northwest Land Conservancy, vice-president communications; Jackson Williams of Hospice of Spokane, past president; Bobbie League, advisor. The Inland Northwest Land Conservancy announced the organization’s board as follows: Carl Griffin, retired IBM, president; Brenda McCracken of Spokane Community College, vice-president; Michael Currin of Witherspoon Kelley, secretary; Andrew McDirmid of Eide Bailly LLP, treasurer. Members at large for Inland Northwest Land Conservancy are: John Allen of Vino! A Wine Shop; Todd Beyreuther of Washington State University; Rob Lindsay of Spokane County Utilities; Rod Price of Avista Utilities; Jake Williamson of Moss-Adams LLP.

Utilities

McKinstry has named Washington State University as a recipient of the 2015 CleanTech Alliance Washington Achievement Award for the university’s work curbing energy use campus-wide. This award recognizes a business or organization for making significant contributions to Washington’s cleantech industry.

Avista Corp. and the Avista Foundation have donated $505,000 to non-profit organizations during 2015 seasonal giving in the company’s service territories in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Alaska. These donations help fund food banks, energy assistance, shelter and clothing, and holiday meals.
