Teen suspected of stabbing mom during argument about chores

A 16-year-old boy is accused of stabbing his mother last week during an argument about chores.

The boy wanted to watch television while finishing his chores at the family’s residence near North Central High School, according to court documents. During the ongoing argument the mother left the room where the boy was sitting on the couch watching TV. While she was gone the boy grabbed two kitchen knives and then pretended to be asleep on the couch, court records say.

When his mother returned and continued the argument the boy sat up and pointed one of the knives at his mother. She told him to “do it,” the teen told police, according to court documents.

The boy allegedly thrust the knife at his mother, stabbing her in the lower right side of her abdomen. He told police that he believed she would move out of the way.

The suspect’s sister, who told police she witnessed the stabbing, feared her mother would die and called 911.

After she was stabbed, the mother went sat in the bathtub, the according to court records. Meanwhile, the boy washed the knives and put them in his top dresser drawer, the boy told police.

The woman was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center with a lacerated liver and punctured diaphragm, according to court documents. A nurse told investigators that her injuries were life-threatening and required surgery. The boy faces a chrage of first-degree assault.
