Gabe Marks credits paternal turnout for Arizona energy

PULLMAN – Every year the football team plays one game in front of a bunch of dads, who descend on Pullman to visit their kids attending Washington State University. These Dads’ Weekend games have a reputation for being a bit quiet – the dads are not always alumni and may not be fans of Cougar football beyond rooting for their kids’ team.

But when asked what led the Cougars to so much success in their 69-7 win over Arizona on Saturday, wide receiver Gabe Marks credited the fathers in attendance.

“There were just a bunch of dads going hard, just enjoying the college atmosphere while their kids take care of them, because they were out of control,” Marks said. “It was a good environment – grown men acting like children. It was a nice day, everyone’s feeling good, it’s kind of warm for November. So we just got after it. We wanted to be part of the fun, too.”
