Spokane and Spokane Valley city services will be affected during holidays

Spokane and Spokane Valley city services will be affected by Christmas Day and New Year’s Day holidays.

Garbage pickup and curbside recycling will be delayed a day both weeks. The Waste-to-Energy facility will be closed on both holidays.

The Spokane City Council’s first meetings in the new year will be Jan. 8.

Motorists will get a break from plugging parking meters. Parking will be free in downtown Spokane on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Spokane Public Library branches will be closed Saturday through Monday and on Jan. 1.

Riverfront Park Ice Ribbon will be closed Monday but will be open through New Year’s.

Spokane Valley City Hall business offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

The Spokane Valley City Council’s next meeting will be Jan. 2 at 6 p.m. in council chambers.

Spokane Valley snow plowing and deicing service crews will respond as needed throughout the holidays.

The CenterPlace Regional Event Center and Spokane Valley Senior Center will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

The Spokane Valley University Road Transfer Station will be close Sunday at 1 p.m. and reopen Tuesday with regular hours.

Waste Management’s curbside collection services will be suspended on Christmas Day and will be delayed by one day. The Dec. 29 collection will occur on Dec. 30.
