Developers move on UO student apartment tower plan

Associated Press

EUGENE – Out-of-state developers are moving forward with a plan in Eugene to build a towering 12-story apartment complex for University of Oregon students.

The Register-Guard reported Wednesday that The Dinerstein Cos. of Houston and Pittsburgh-based Maifly Development recently purchased a shuttered Chinese restaurant in Eugene for $2 million. The goal is to demolish the property soon to make way for the new development.

Documents filed with the city in March show the student apartment complex would be one of the tallest buildings in Eugene.

The filings described the developers’ plan of a 12-story residential development geared toward UO students with multifamily residential units and parking.

It’s unclear when the developers are looking to start construction.
