By Caroline Hammett The Spokesman-Review

The Destination Imagination team from Gonzaga Prep is heading to the global competition for the fourth year in a row. The team received first place as well as the Renaissance Award when they competed at the state level in Wenatchee on April 1.

Destination Imagination, or DI, is a nonprofit organization that seeks to reincorporate the arts into learning alongside science and math subjects. The competition is designed for a group of students to work together to solve problems creatively.

Gonzaga’s DI team, the Weapon-Wielding Dragicorns, is made up of Ilina Logani, Catherine Carter, Giulia Smith, Athena Belanzano, Laura Jones, and Jessica Scheuller. The team is coached by Mike Carroll.

The DI Global Competition will be held May 24-27 in Knoxville, Tennessee and the Weapon-Wielding Dragicorns plan to participate. The team is raising money for their trip through GoFundMe.
