Slowpitch softball roundup: Payton Cushner homers twice in Mead sweep of Rogers

Mead 16-13, Rogers 15-0: Peyton Cushner had four hits – including a home run and a double with four RBIs – and Mead (11-4) swept Rogers (5-8) in a Greater Spokane League doubleheader at Mead on Thursday.

Annika Tibbits stroked a two-out walk-off single in the eighth inning to lead the Panthers over the Pirates in the first game. Cushner went 4 for 5 with a home run and three RBIS for the Panthers.

Mt. Spokane 13-14 at North Central 2-2: Sophia Tutt went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and Mt. Spokane (10-3) defeated North Central (5-8) in the second game of a doubleheader sweep at North Central.

Jesse Dupuis drove in three runs on three hits and visiting Mt. Spokane (9-3, 9-3) beat North Central (5-7, 5-7) 13-2 in the first game of a Greater Spokane League doubleheader on Thursday.

Lewis and Clark 9-4, Shadle Park 8-6: Carley Bachmeier had two hits to help Shadle Park (3-11) top Lewis and Clark (5-9) in the second game and earn a doubleheader split at Hart Field. Caroline Johnson homered for the Highlanders.

Deshiya Crawford drove in three runs as the Tigers defeated the Highlanders in the first game. Caroline Johnson added two doubles and two RBIs for the Tigers.

University 28-9, Gonzaga Prep 0-2: Makayla Marshall collected three hits and University (15-0) defeated visiting Gonzaga Prep (1-15) to earn a doubleheader sweep at Gonzaga Prep.

Gracee Dwyer drove in eight runs on five hits, including a home run, in the first game.

Central Valley 17-15, Ferris 6-0: Jaelyn Strand went 4 for 4 with a double and four RBIs and Central Valley (12-1) shut out Ferris (5-10) in the second game of a doubleheader sweep at Central Valley.

Grace Stumbough went 4 for 4 with seven RBIs, including four in a walk-off grand slam in the first game of a doubleheader. Kiara Morse slugged a three-run shot for the Bears.
