Motorcyclist killed when struck by SUV in Spokane Valley; driver arrested

An SUV struck and killed a motorcyclist Thursday morning in Spokane Valley.

A woman was driving a 1997 Ford Expedition west on Grace Avenue and didn’t yield when crossing Pines Road about 9 a.m., said Washington State Patrol Trooper Jeff Sevigney. The SUV struck a motorcycle heading south on Pines.

Spokane resident Valarie M. Daly, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the WSP. She was riding a 2017 Triumph Street Twin motorcycle.

The woman driving the SUV, Spokane Valley resident Elizabeth L. Turner-Murphy, 40, appeared to be driving under the influence, Sevigney said. She was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide.
