The Chiefs have plenty of giveaways and special events scheduled for fans this season at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.

The Chiefs’ opener is Saturday against the Kootenay Ice at 7:05 p.m. The team will host a Bud Light Opening Night and Pregame party at 4 p.m. outside the main entrance to the Arena. The kickoff party will feature live music, food trucks and a beer garden, and fans will have the opportunity to grab photos and autographs from the players as they arrive for the game.

The Chiefs will host six Buck Nights this season when fans can buy dollar hot dogs, popcorn and Coca-Cola products. The first Buck Night will be Nov. 4 when the Chiefs host Tri-City.

The annual Teddy Bear Toss, where fans throw teddy bears on the ice after the Chiefs score their first goal of the night, will take place on Dec. 9, when the Chiefs play the Seattle Thunderbirds. All teddy bears collected will be donated to local children in need through The Spokesman-Review Christmas Fund. This season, the team hopes to break 2013’s record of 6,767 stuffed animals tossed on the ice.

The team will also host a Toys 4 Tots and Ugly Sweater night on Dec. 17 when the Chiefs face the Thunderbirds. Fans will be entered to win prizes when they bring new, unwrapped toys that will be collected by the U.S. Marine Corps.

The Marine Corps will also be at the Arena to collect toy donations for six straight games prior to the Dec. 17 promotion.

Fans will have opportunities to win some big prizes this season, including a $1,000 shopping spree to Fred Meyer. Fans can enter for that prize at any local Fred Meyer location prior to Fred Meyer Shop with Chiefs Night on Nov. 17, when Spokane hosts the Victoria Royals.

The Chiefs are giving away a weekend trip to Las Vegas during their game against Portland on January 5. Fans can enter to win at spokanechiefs.com a few weeks prior to the game.

Fans can also win a trip to Leavenworth, Washington, during the Chiefs’ seventh annual Leinenkugel’s HOCKtoberfest on Oct. 14. Fans can now enter the giveaway online at spokanechiefs.com.

The Chiefs have a couple of smaller giveaways lined up this season. The first 2,000 fans at the arena on March 10 will receive a bobblehead with the likeness of Kailer Yamamoto, who was selected in the first round of the 2017 NHL Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.

Numerica Credit Union will give away goalie mask piggy banks to 2,000 fans at the Arena on Jan. 13, before Spokane’s game against Everett.

Other small-item giveaway nights include a glow bracelet (Nov. 3), Spokane Chiefs beanie (Nov. 18), team poster (Nov. 25), Chiefs vintage-styled calendar (Dec. 15) and Chiefs insulated jersey lunch bag (Feb. 23). The Chiefs will also give out a player magnet to the first 1,000 fans prior to eight home games this season, the first on Oct. 4.

Spokane’s last home game will be March 16 against the Tri-City Americans. The Chiefs will wear special St. Patrick’s Day jerseys for the first time.
