Mac Lardner pitches seven shutout innings as Gonzaga blanks Pepperdine

Left-handed starter Mac Lardner threw a gem and Gonzaga baseball got hot late on offense to beat visiting Pepperdine 7-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Lardner threw 7 shutout innings, giving up just four hits while striking out seven and walking one. Closer Casey Legumina came on in the eighth and allowed one hit over 2 innings to keep the shutout intact.

On offense, the Zags (11-8) got it rolling in the seventh and eighth innings with all seven runs against Pepperdine (9-11). Nick Nyquist continued his solid run at the plate with a pair of timely hits, knocking in three runs and scoring twice himself.
