Cory Voss’ three RBIs lift Lewis-Clark State over Antelope Valley at NAIA World Series

LEWISTON – Cory Voss went 3 for 5 with three runs batted in to lead Lewis-Clark State to a 5-3 victory over Antelope Valley (California) in a loser-out game of the NAIA World Series on Tuesday at Harris Field.

Voss opened the scoring in the top of the first inning for the Warriors (40-12) with a RBI single. He hit a solo home run in the inning and a RBI double in the eighth to give LCSC an insurance run.

A.J. Davis drove in the winning run for the Warriors with a single in the top of the sixth, scoring Darren Trainor from third.

Tyler Burch allowed three runs, one earned, in 6 1/3 innings on the mound for the Warriors. Gage Burland (East Valley High) pitched the final 2 2/3 innings for LCSC, allowing just one hit.

With the win, LCSC advances to join Georgia Gwinnett, Southeastern (Florida) and Freed-Hardeman (Tennessee) as the remaining teams in the tournament. The Warriors will play Southeastern (57-7) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Georgia Gwinnett (50-11) and Freed-Hardeman (46-15) start at 3 p.m.
