State tennis: Mt. Spokane’s Graham Clark, Lewis and Clark girls doubles reach semifinals
Graham Clark of Mt. Spokane beat Ethan Griffith (Capital) 6-2, 6-0 in a State 3A quarterfinal at the Tri-City Court Club in Kennewick on Friday and will face defending state champ Alan Yim (Lakeside-Seattle) in a semifinal Saturday.
Henry Johnson (Mt. Spokane) lost a first-round match but beat Irvin Yi (Gig Harbor) 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to advance in the fifth-place bracket.
4A boys: Tim Pullmann (Ferris) lost to Amol Koli (Newport-Bellevue) 6-1, 6-0 in a quarterfinal at Columbia Basin Racquet Club in Richland and will play in the fourth-place bracket.
Marcello Scudiero (Gonzaga Prep) fell to Connor Scott (Newport) 6-4, 6-1 in a consolation match.
In doubles, Eric Liu and Kyle Kuka (Mead) lost a first-round match at Hanford HS but beat Max Ellingsen and Roman Mojto (Lewis and Clark) 6-0, 6-2 in a consolation and will play for fifth place on Saturday.
4A girls: Brooke Fager (LC) beat Ashley Tonthat (Richland) 6-3, 6-1 in a consolation match at Columbia Basin Racquet Club and will play for fourth place. Carolyn Johnson and Madelyn Dibble (LC) advanced to a semifinal, beating Milan Mar and Alyssa Chin (Inglemoor) 6-1, 6-2.
Sophie Kohler and Luca Misterick (Mead) were eliminated in a consolation match at Hanford HS.
3A girls: Sammie Maher and Kennedi Rehn (Mt. Spokane) fell to Isabel Reonel and Kelsey Cummins (Meadowdale) 6-2, 6-3 in a consolation match at Kamiakin HS.
2A boys: Andy He and Tim Watts (Pullman) beat a team from Franklin Pierce in a consolation match at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle and will play in the fifth-place bracket.
2A girls: Tiffany Phout (East Valley) fell to Faith Graham (Columbia River) 6-0, 6-2 in a quarterfinal at Tri-City Court Club and will play in the fourth-place bracket.
Kerington Tenwick (Clarkston) beat Carlissa Kaut (Centralia) 6-1, 6-1 in a consolation match and will play in the fifth-place bracket.
Keara Sinclair and Lillian Hyde (West Valley) fell in a consolation match at Nordstrom Tennis Center.
1A/2B/1B boys: Andy Simmerman (Freeman) lost a quarterfinal match to Ezra Magaram (Seattle Academy) 6-4, 6-2 at the Yakima Tennis Club and will play in the fourth-place bracket on Saturday.
Nolan Ng (Riverside) lost a quarterfinal match to Raghav Agrawal (Charles Wright) 6-2, 6-1 and moved to the fourth-place bracket. Cameron Whittle of Newport beat Leuri Sandoval (Wahluke) 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in a consolation match and will play in the fifth-place bracket. Owen Bryant and Daniel Gady (Freeman) lost a quarterfinal match and will play in the fourth-place bracket.
1A/2B/1B girls: Sarah Simmerman (Freeman) beat Dorothy Espinosa (Cascade-Leavenworth) 6-2, 6-4 in a consolation match at Yakima Tennis Club and will play for fourth place.
Allie Michael (Deer Park) beat Kylene Edwards (Davenport) 6-4, 6-0 in a consolation match and will play for fifth place.
Jessica Lawrence of Kettle Falls was eliminated in a consolation match.
