Truck Crash, Logs Injure St. Maries Man

ISP News Release: At approximately 2:45 this morning, Joseph Reid was driving an empty Jack Buell logging truck northbound on SH3 near milepost 106 when he swerved to miss an animal in the road. As a result, he slipped off the road partially blocking the southbound lane. At approximately 3:50 a.m., a boon truck arrived on scene to recover Reid's truck from the embankment. While the vehicle removal was taking place, a fully loaded log truck, driven by Paul Barden, came to the scene, braked to avoid another truck stopped at the scene and swerved striking Reid's truck. Barden's logs came off his truck and struck Reid who was outside his truck at the time. Reid was transported to Kootenai Medical Center with injuries that were limited to brusing of legs, abdomen and chest.
