Coeur d'Alene Held Hostage, Day 61: I asked County Clerk Cliff Hayes via email Monday whether he was going to allow observers to watch the signature verification process that should begin next Monday. He said he wasn't going to allow that because the verification would be done by teams of two. And it'd be hard for an observer from each side to keep track of the situation. Any challenges to the verification process, he said, can be taken to court. Given the contentiousness of the recall, I'm not sure that Hayes is making the right call in not allowing independent observers to watch the process. (Think: Hanging chads). What do you think?
