Dead UI Student Had Been Drinking

The 18-year-old University of Idaho freshman who froze to death under a bridge last month was intoxicated and had traces of marijuana in his system, according to toxicology reports. Moscow Police Chief David Duke said Joseph Wiederrick had a blood-alcohol level of 0.17 percent at the time of his death, more than twice the legal limit to drive in Idaho. Wiederrick had been at a party at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity earlier on the night he died, and Duke estimated that his blood-alcohol level was at least 0.25 percent when he left the party several hours earlier/Lewiston Tribune.
