Playing the North Idaho card

In his Slice blog this morning, Paul Turner writes:

I enjoyed this note from my friend Wade Griffith. "In the 1980s it was my privilege to head up marketing for The First National Bank of North Idaho in Coeur d'Alene. And we played the North vs. South card to the hilt. We were 'Your North Idaho Bank' and regularly portrayed our Boise-based (or worse) competitors as a bunch of out-of-state carpet baggers. I recall opining publicly that the only thing OUR bank needed from Boise was an annual list of bank holidays. And that Lewiston was really in Central Idaho, by virtue of being south of the river. The reality is that many things in Idaho may be state-wide, but few are state-long."

Question: What personal ties do you have to southern Idaho?
