Democrat Jordan: ‘A message of hope’

Not only is Paulette Jordan now the only Democrat in the Idaho Legislature from north of Boise, she’s also the only Native American member. A longtime Democratic activist and former Coeur d’Alene Tribal Council member, Jordan, D-Plummer, said, “My campaign has just been about staying positive, sticking to the truth.”

Being part of a minority is nothing new to Jordan. “You’re going against the grain and you’re putting yourself out there to create change,” she said, “and a lot of people don’t want that change – sometimes they can’t see that change, the vision that you see.” Jordan said hers is a “message of hope.” She said regardless of the election results, both locally and nationally, she’s focused on “the hope that people will maintain their grounds and continue to fight for their families, their children, the freedoms and peace we all desire, and the balance that we seek.” She said, “We still have a lot of work ahead”/Betsy Russell, Eye on Boise.
