Hump Day Wild Card -- 10.19.16 

On this day 40 years ago, my father, Franklin Simas Oliveria, was killed in an accident in which a trucker turned in front of him on a rural road in central California. He was 55, the son of Portuguese immigrants. He was a short, stocky man with a big laugh and love for people. In return, people loved him.

The Bonner County prosecutor’s office has referred charges that supporters of Rep. Heather Scott, R-Blanchard, stalked and harassed a young field organizer for the Idaho Democratic Party in North Idaho to the Idaho Attorney General’s office, and the Attorney General’s office has opened an investigation.

Amador to miss Demo Club forum 

Republican Paul Amador said he has a conflict and won't be able to attend the weekly Kootenai County Democratic Club lunch at the Iron Horse Friday. Amador didn't respond to a follow-up request from the Democrats that allowed him to name the date and time for a debate. Q: Why is it that so many Republicans have debate conflicts?

Poll: 60% of USA back legal pot 11 

A record high 60 percent of American adults support legalization of marijuana, according to a new Gallup poll released three weeks before voters in nine states decide whether to expand legal access to pot. When Gallup first asked about this issue in 1969, 12 percent of Americans supported legalization.

The Idaho Education Association’s political arm is a major donor to a Boise-based group supporting Democratic legislative candidates. Man stabbed for taking too long to go 

A man accused of stabbing a stranger in a Spokane McDonald’s bathroom told police he resorted to violence because the other man was taking too long, according to court documents. Police arrested Darrell E. McDuffee, 53, Sunday. What the hey?
