Some readers’ comments worth more
While walking back from the downtown Pita Pit today, I heard the following comment: “Finally, I found a reason to read readers’ comments.”
The speaker was referring to his Netflix account. If you do business with Netflix, or any number of online movie sites, you know what he was referring to. When it comes to movies, everyone is a critic – and especially when it comes to movies that the mainstream critics missed, ordinary readers often are the only ones to offer up opinions.
Unfortunately, many of those opinions are of the “it was so freakin’ cool” or “it rocked” variety. Which sometimes is worse than reading nothing.
In the case of the speaker above, though, the comments proved to be just what he wanted to hear. They referred to the 2007 film “Closure,” which stars Gillian Anderson. And while most of the reviews were negative, one referred to something the speaker found particularly interesting – an Anderson nude scene.
If that doesn’t grab every nerd who ever watched “The X Files,” nothing will.
