I’ve been to the new Magic Lantern Theatre three times now, and I’ve seen movies in both houses. Here’s what I’ve noticed.

I’ve noticed sight lines, especially in the smaller house, that aren’t as good as they should be. I’ve noticed lights along the sides of the larger house that flicker like candles in the wind. I’ve noticed the sound of the projector in the smaller house over the sound of the film. I’ve noticed a shadow on the screen of the smaller house (caused, it appears, from the lamp shade on the projector).

Some of these things have already been fixed. Others can be. Those of us who plan on going there regularly need to keep our eyes open, so that we can keep abreast the problems as they crop up.

This is our Magic Lantern. If we don’t do the work, who will?
