FISHING -- Good news Clearwater River drainage chinook salmon anglers: "There will be no closures this week," says Joe DuPont, Idaho Fish and Game Department regional fisheries manager in Lewiston.

While lower sections of the river downstream from Orofino already have met their quotas, the upper reaches of the drainage remain open, thanks to a drop-off in the number of anglers.

"The next time we will look at the data is next Monday which means you are good to go until at least then," DuPont said.

The drop in harvest last week was largely due to the decline in effort as catch rates were good (below 10 hrs./fish) in sections 3, 5, and 7.  For those of you want to Salmon fish the Clearwater drainage there are still some good opportunities.

The South Fork is among the notable waters to check out.

Fish managers will be reviewing quotas in the Hells Canyon and Rapid River areas on Tuesday.
