Project Feeder Watch offers freebie to birders

WILDLIFE WATCHING -- An online birding activity sponsored by Cornell Lab of Ornithology is offering a deal to bird watchers interested in learning more about their feathered friends.

Sign up online for Project FeederWatch by Feb. 29 for $18 (includes this year and next year) and you'll receive a free course valued at $29

Participants in the project contribute information on their birding observations and send it to the Cornell lab to feed databases that help monitor bird populations.

The online course draws teaches bird identification through tips and interactive quizzes.  Learn more here.

In addition to the course, participants receive:

  • Tally Sheet
  • Subscription to Winter Bird Highlights

FeederWatch data, compiled for nearly 30 years, help scientists track broad movements and long-term trends in the abundance of winter feeder-bird populations. Curious participants can explore the millions of FeederWatch sightings on the website.
