WALeg Day 10: Where’d all these Spokanites come from?

OLYMPIA -- About 130 goverment, business and education representatives from the Spokane area are expected in the Capitol today and tomorrow to push for a list of local priorities.

It's part of the annual lobbying excursion by Greater Spokane Inc., which seems to grow every year. They'll get briefings from legislative leaders on the budget, public schools, higher education and transportation this afternoon and tomorrow, and have a reception at the governor's mansion Thursday evening.

Also on the menu today:

Attorney General Bob Ferguson will call for the state to raise the smoking age (for cigarettes, that is) to 21. Developing story here.

Bills to allow WSU to operate a Medical School were introduced. Developing story here.
