WALeg Day 18: Summer fires get scrutiny, Joel’s Law gets a vote

OLYMPIA -- A House committee takes up questions about the state's early response to the fires that turned into the Carlton Complex and the full House votes on Joel's Law.

Central Washington legislators have been critical of the time it took Department of Natural Resources crews to fight the fires near Brewster this summer. The House Natural Resources Committee will air that out at an early afternoon work session.

This morning the House is expected to give strong support to a law that would allow relatives to have an easier time getting mental health treatment for family members. It is also likely to pass a supplemental budget, making short-term adjustments to the state's Operating Budget between now and June 30.
