Vance cancels Spokane town hall meeting

A town hall meeting in Spokane Saturday with Chris Vance, the Republican candidate for Senate, has been cancelled although the Sunday debate with U.S. Sen. Patty Murray is still on.

Vance planned the meeting for Saturday afternoon, but on Friday announced it was being cancelled because of weather concerns in Western Washington.

"My house in Auburn is surrounded by trees and I need to stick around in case some of them come crashing down," he said in an e-mail. "Rest assured I will make it to Gonzaga in time for the debate Sunday night.".

Vance and U.S. Sen. Patty Murray are scheduled to will take part in a televised debate at 7 p.m. at the university.
