Spokane Valley

Tall weeds and fire danger

At Tuesday's meeting, one neighbor said that the tall weeds and trash add to the already high fire danger and the city should do more to make owners clean up the vacant lots.

The one in the photo sits right smack in the middle of Auto Row. There's also a large empty lot - which is for sale - on the south side of Sprague Avenue near the intersection with University Road. The occupied car in the tall, dry grass is a stark contrast to the manicured landscaping around Banner Bank's branch right next door.

Should cleaning up these lots be a priority for code enforcement? Where are the worst examples in Spokane Valley and Spokane?
