WSU rallies but falls 61-59 to UCLA

COUGARS

As has been the case just about every game against a ranked opponent this season, Washington State had a stretch it just couldn't overcome. Thursday night, it came in the first half. A 16-4 run, keyed by the 3-pointers of Nikola Dragovic, gave 13th-ranked UCLA a 15-point lead. And that was just too much for the Cougars to overcome, despite a second-half rally. WSU tied it at 53 after a Caleb Forrest 3-pointer, capping a 11-0 WSU run. But Darren Collison, quiet much of the night, then took over, scoring six consecutive points and giving UCLA a lead it would never give up. The Cougars had a last chance to tie, but Marcus Capers' 3-pointer under pressure at the buzzer didn't draw iron. We'll be back in about 90 minutes with the game story.
