NIC volleyball moves to No. 1

The North Idaho College volleyball team (19-3) was ranked first in the nation in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association Division I poll released Tuesday, the first time in the program’s history that the Cardinals have been ranked No. 1.

The ranking comes after NIC defeated the top-ranked College of Southern Idaho, NIC’s conference rival, Sept. 26.

NIC's next match will be against the College of Eastern Utah at Thursday at NIC’s Christianson Gym, beginning at 7. The game theme is a Dig Pink Match to raise funds for the Side-Out Foundation. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink to the game, which will feature a raffle for a variety of prizes from local sponsors.

All proceeds from admission, concessions and the raffle will benefit the Side-Out Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization that supports breast cancer awareness and funding through volleyball-related events.
