Janet Collins spent seven years researching arctic adventurer Ernest Leffingwell and is the author of “On the Arctic Frontier: Ernest Leffingwell’s Polar Explorations and Legacy.” Candace Wellman researched the cross-cultural marriages in Whatcom County’s early days. She is the author of “Peace Weavers: Uniting the Salish Coast Through Cross-Cultural Marriages.”
