Dialogues and Disputes: Cezanne, Picasso, Matisse and the Female Nude
March 11, 2018 - March 11, 2018
In this final on French Modernism in our 2017-2018 series, Dr. Meredith Shimizu reviews the dialogues and disputes as well as the rivalry and friendships between three of the larger-than-life artists who helped create the still-fascinating legend of expression that was Paris in the early 20th century. This series of lectures is being offered to examine how prominent artists of the French Modernism period kept challenging the art world with new ideas, while consistently turning to the most conventional of subject matters: the female figure.
