The Black Sea Maritime Archaeology Project
This fourth lecture in the 2018-19 Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) series focuses on the Black Sea MAPs surveys, one of the largest Maritime archaeological projects ever staged. Through the projects, more than 60 shipwrecks have been discovered and recorded with the latest robotic laser scanning and acoustic and photogrammetric techniques, with the earliest wreck found so far being from circa 5th-4th century B.C. This assemblage must comprise one of the finest underwater Museum of ships and seafaring in the world.
