Exhibit and Book Launch: “Waging Peace in Vietnam: U.S. Soldiers and Veterans Who Opposed the War”
A collection of first-hand accounts and photos from the rank-and-file soldiers and GI organizers who spearheaded the Vietnam-era anti-war movement. Several veterans who are featured in the exhibit will be present, including: Inland Northwest resident Bob Chenoweth who was a prisoner of war in Vietnam for five years; Paul Cox, a Marine squad leader who witnessed his own “My Lai”; Gerry Condon, former Green Beret who refused orders to go to Vietnam; Camilo Mejia, who spent eight years in the Army and was jailed for refusing to return to Iraq; Susan Schnall, a Navy nurse who was court-martialed in 1968 for leading a peace march; and Chuck Searcy, a military analyst in Vietnam who returned to clear land mines. The exhibit is also on Aug. 17, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
