The Spokesman-Review’s annual short-fiction series. For 10 weeks, some of Spokane’s best writers share new, original works of short fiction based on a central theme. This year focused on “The Summer of ’69,” one of the most significant years of the late 20th century which was explored by Spokane authors: Shawn Vestal, Kris Dinnison, Stephanie Oakes, Megan Rowe, Sharma Shields, Chris Crutcher, Sherry Jones, Sarah Hulse, Thom Caraway and Jess Walter.
