Summary

Gonzaga Prep held on to beat visiting Mt. Spokane 7-6 on Thursday in a matchup of the top two teams in the GSL standings.

Both schools entered the day at 4-1 in league play.

Matt Pulliam put the Wildcats on top early with a three-run homer in the first, but Jack Machtolf answered for the Bullpups with a two-run bomb in the bottom of the frame. G-Prep opened up a lead with a four-run fourth, and Seth Kuykendall closed out the game with two and two-thirds' innings of strong relief. Kuykendall struck out five and allowed just one hit.
