Schrier raises alarm after VA watchdog warns Spokane hospital risks losing accreditation due to data reporting problems

After a watchdog report found Spokane’s VA medical center has failed to collect and report data needed to improve patient safety and maintain the hospital’s accreditation since launching a new computer system in October 2020, a Washington congresswoman called for the Department of Veterans Affairs to fix the system before it causes an exodus of medical staff.

‘Something’s got to happen’: Veterans groups, workers at Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center protest recommendation to end services

The protesters, numbering two dozen at times, held signs defending staff at the hospital but criticizing the Veterans Affairs Administration. They said they were spurred by a March report recommending that inpatient medical and surgical services be discontinued at the military hospital and instead take place in civilian and community health centers.
