Indians look to sock it to Sox in NWL championship

It’s fair to say that the Spokane Indians started turning around their season the first time they played the Everett AquaSox. Until that series, June 26-30 in Spokane, the Indians had a 1-6 record and faced the daunting task of playing an AquaSox team that had opened the season 7-1.

Rundown run boosts Indians

Jurickson Profar hit the ball all around Avista Stadium on Sunday night, but his biggest play came while making an inning-ending out in the eighth. Profar stayed in a rundown between first and second base long enough for Josh Richmond to score the go-ahead run in the Spokane Indians’ fourth consecutive Northwest League win in their second-to-last regular-season home game. The Indians defeated the Boise Hawks 5-4, but nothing seemed assured until Spokane second baseman Alejandro Selen turned a game-ending double play to strand a Boise runner at third base.

The Spokane Indians put the West in their rearview mirror Tuesday, although they wouldn’t mind a short return visit before the summer fades. Indians down Emeralds with big ninth

One night after the Spokane Indians melted down in the ninth inning and Wes Cunningham played hero for Eugene, the baseball gods called for a role reversal. Spokane scored four runs in the ninth inning Sunday night, completed when Cunningham dropped a fly ball in right field, to stun the Emeralds 7-6 in the middle game of a five-game set at Avista Stadium.

Eugene’s six-run 9th beats Spokane Indians

The Spokane Indians dodged Wes Cunningham’s home run and triple, but the walks he and his teammates drew were a different matter.
