This time the race was a relay. Rodney Stuckey was his usual dynamic self but Eastern Washington put five other players in double figures to race past Cal State Fullerton 110-100 before 1,979 fans at Reese Court on Monday night.

In the end, it’s Huskies who finish

SEATTLE – Eastern Washington gave 16th-ranked Washington everything it could handle but it's obvious where the Eagles fell short in a 90-83 men's basketball loss at Bank of America Arena Friday night. The Eagles couldn't finish.

Eastern Washington thumps Geoducks

Eastern Washington didn't get much of a challenge from The Evergreen State College but there was suspense in the non-conference men's basketball game at Reese Court Tuesday night. Victorious homecoming

PULLMAN — Four years ago Carl Bonnell decided to leave Pullman to become a Washington Husky. And now, he has a win to validate that choice. Bonnell, who signed a letter of intent with WSU, switched schools after grayshirting that fall. A starter this year after Isaiah Stanback's injury, Saturday marked the junior's first career Pac-10 win.

When it rained it poured

PULLMAN – It was only fitting that the Apple Cup basically ended when Washington State quarterback Alex Brink was sacked by the Washington defense. That gave the Huskies five sacks and a fair share of the multitude of big plays the Huskies used to produce a 35-32 win over the Cougars on Saturday at Martin Stadium to salvage what had become a disappointing Pac-10 football season.

Murrietta stands out among QBs

Much of the preseason attention in the Big Sky Conference focused on senior quarterbacks Josh Swogger and Matt Gutierrez, both of whom were leaving I-A programs and considered Eastern Washington before going elsewhere. Gutierrez, who left Michigan for Idaho State, was picked as the preseason all-conference quarterback. Swogger, who chose Montana, was under the microscope because he was leaving Washington State, where he started as a sophomore.

Gonzaga women surprise Utah with a win

Never mind that this Utah team is a shell of its former self: It's still Utah, one of the most successful women's basketball teams in the West. Utah has only had one losing record in 23 seasons under coach Elaine Elliott. Her Utes have had 20 wins 17 times and made the NCAA tournament 14 times.

Bobcats get UM after rest

Henry carries tremendous load

PULLMAN – Considering the way Chris Henry's career has been, the Arizona junior running back had a career against Washington State on Saturday. He ground out 94 yards on a school-record 35 carries and scored two touchdowns as the Wildcats stunned the 25th-ranked Cougars 27-17 at rain-drenched Martin Stadium.
Sports

Not-so-special teams

PULLMAN – Washington State special teams have been shoddy all season, and things didn't get much better in the losing effort against Arizona. Two botched punt plays cost the Cougars dearly, and the visiting Wildcats turned them into 10 points. First, a poor snap from Tony Thompson got to Darryl Blunt on a short hop in the second quarter, and Blunt couldn't handle the wet football as it bounced up to him. Arizona tackled Blunt for a 10-yard loss and quickly hit a 37-yard field goal to take a 10-point lead into the half.
