Bolton works to nail down job

Jeff Bolton's chances of sticking with the Seattle Seahawks are slim, but that might be all he needs to make it somewhere else. "All I'm thinking is I'm going to do everything in my power that I can possibly do to put myself in the best position to make a team," Bolton said after practice Tuesday at Eastern Washington University. "Whether it's practice squad, active roster, whatever, I just want to make a team."

Punters Plackemeier, Lindstrom look for any edge

Without benefit of seeing every punt since April or to review them from three different angles in slow motion, it would appear the job of Seattle Seahawks punter is a tight competition between seventh-round draft choice Ryan Plackemeier and free agent Gabe Lindstrom. That was the company line Monday morning even though Plackemeier handled all of the kicks Saturday night and was one of the few highlights in the Seahawks' 13-3 loss to Dallas in the first preseason game.

NC’s journey to 3A summit

Darren Nelson, North Central Class of '91, returned to his alma mater to teach English and be an assistant football coach in 1996. He also took on the duties of coaching the 1999 girls track team, which back then may have been unkindly considered as baby-sitting. The Indians finished the 1998 season, when Nelson first helped out, a distant last in the Greater Spokane League with just eight girls.

Weekend was O’Reilly’s

PASCO – Maybe it's not fair to Cameron Elisara's second state championship in the shot put or Wes Nolan's surprising win in the javelin but the 2006 State 4A track championships are going to be remembered as Megan O'Reilly's weekend. O'Reilly, less than 18 hours after running the fastest high school girls 3,200 meters in Washington history, came back to gut out a thrilling 1,600 Saturday afternoon at Edgar Brown Stadium.
