There's a little bit more than pride on the line tonight in the 20th annual High School Coaches All-Star Basketball doubleheader at Gonzaga University. Six players will be named to the Washington team that will take on Oregon Saturday night in Portland. Four players have already been selected and will play tonight - Will Hutchens of Dayton, Tarik Brown of Mercer Island, Jason Perry of O'Dea and Jason Terry of Franklin.

Panther Boys Repeat; U-Hi, Mead Girls 2-3

Micah Davis and Skiy DeTray ran until it hurt, but at the end they were feeling no pain as the Mead stars cracked the 9-minute barrier in a stirring, photo-finish 3,200-meter run Saturday night, highlighting another terrific day for Greater Spokane League athletes at Star Track XIII. Davis nipped DeTray, 8:58.34 to 8:58.35, reversing their 1,600 finish of a night earlier, and powering the Panthers to their second straight team title.

Gsl Off To Blazing Start In Aaa Track Victories For Mead’s Beatty, Detray And University’s Girls 400 Relay Team Mark First Day Of Star Track

They saved the best for last, from Allison Beatty's final throw in the javelin to the University girls 400 relay team to Mead's dominating one-two punch of Skiy DeTray and Micah Davis in the boys 1,600 meters. During a blazing afternoon and perfect evening for Star Track XIII at Lincoln Bowl on Friday, Greater Spokane League track and field athletes won three championships, got most of the points they expected plus a few more and pushed potential champions through the preliminaries.

Hough Dances Into Record Books

Prep track Katherine Hough is fast, but she isn't fast enough to get to the prom on time. The University speedster was at Spokane Falls Community College on Friday night, winning four events in the District 8/Taco Time Greater Spokane League track meet, which probably made her last at the Senior Prom.
