TACOMA – Mt. Spokane senior Dillon Lionello didn’t win the State 3A shot put championship by an inch Friday, but it probably felt like he did.

Cade Neumann wanted one more jump Thursday. Not that it would have made a difference in the outcome of the State 3A pole vault. The Mt. Spokane junior had it wrapped up when he cleared 14 feet, 9 inches at Mount Tahoma High School.

The Lewis and Clark girls track and field team spent the first week of the season shoveling snow off four lanes of its track. Coach Dan Hilsendeger called it conditioning. The Tigers called the 4A Regional championship they won Saturday the reward.
