Gonzaga guard Nigel Williams-Goss doesn’t cut Nigel Williams-Goss much slack. The Zags’ leading scorer has been in a bit of an offensive slump during the NCAA Tournament, but he had 23 points in GU’s 83-59 victory over Xavier on Saturday. “I’m still not at my best,” Williams-Goss said.

Josh Perkins’ first dunk stymied by unexpected defender

Gonzaga’s Josh Perkins swiped a pass and was racing downcourt for his first college dunk. Teammates constantly needle Perkins because the 6-3 sophomore guard hasn’t dunked in a game, but that was about to change when he crossed halfcourt. As he closed in on the basket he found an unexpected defender: A young lady sweeping the lane.

Przemek Karnowski’s doctor has Gonzaga and Northwestern ties

The text showed up on Przemek Karnowski’s phone on Thursday. “Hey, I don’t know who to root for?” The author: Dr. John Shuster, the orthopaedic spine surgeon who performed Karnowski’s disc surgery on Dec. 31, 2016. The rub: Shuster earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Northwestern in 1987.

Top recruit Jesse Wade returning home to family, Gonzaga basketball

The countdown is on for the Wade family and the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Gonzaga-bound Jesse Wade has 24 days remaining in his two-year LDS Mission in Lyon, France, his father Eric said. Wade’s family can’t wait to see him and the Zags probably feel the same way. Jesse made his commitment way back in Oct., 2013, before his junior season at Davis High in Kaysville, 15 minutes from Salt Lake City.
