Board Reverses Decision On Principal
The Bonner County School Board has reversed a decision to reassign Sandpoint Middle School Principal Marcie Polin.
In February, the board made a decision to reassign Polin to the classroom but gave no specific reasons for the transfer.
The move angered some parents and many of the teachers at the middle school. They claimed Polin was being punished by the board for speaking out about district problems.
Four new school board members took over last month and reversed the decision to move Polin. She will not, however, retain her principal job this year, because a replacement was already hired.
Instead, Polin has accepted a teaching position at Southside Elementary School and will be in charge of creating a dropout prevention program for the district.
