Richard Miller Colfax, Wash.

Service for Richard E. “Dick” Miller, 66, will be held at 9 a.m. today at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Colfax. Burial will follow at Colfax Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Miller, who died Wednesday in Spokane, was born in San Jose, Calif.

He worked as a cook in the San Jose area and later worked in the restaurant supply business and operated a restaurant and bar in San Jose. He moved to Spokane and worked for restaurant supply companies.

In 1980 he and his companion, Guanda Coy, began operating Allen’s Restaurant in Colfax. They operated the restaurant until 1993 when he retired.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Catholic church, Colfax Chamber of Commerce, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a Codger Pole Supporter. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II.

He is survived by his companion, Guanda Coy of Colfax; two sons, Rick Miller of Rochester, Minn., and Scott Miller of Grants Pass, Ore.; two daughters, Monica Miller of Fremont, Calif., and Shannon Miller of San Jose, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Forest `Buss’ Gunter Lind, Wash.

Service for Forest M. “Buss” Gunter, 85, is planned for 11 a.m. today at United Methodist Church in Lind. Burial will be at the Lind Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gunter, a former Coeur d’Alene resident, died Wednesday at Lakeridge Care Center in Moses Lake. He was born in Seymour, Iowa.

He moved to Wyoming when he was young and in 1934 moved to Post Falls with his wife. During World War II he worked for Alcoa Aluminum, later known as Kaiser Aluminum. In 1945 they moved to Coeur d’Alene and he retired from Kaiser in 1972. They moved to Lind in 1992.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Musicians Union.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edith Gunter, at Life Care Center in Ritzville; one daughter, Ava Wahl of Lind; three sisters, Guelda Davison of Evanston, Wyo., and Millie Thorsen and Ava Davis, both of Big Piney, Wyo.; one half-brother, Mike McCraken of Tennessee; four grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Bertha Olson Spokane

Service for retired Spokane teacher, Bertha V. Olson, is planned for 2 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rosehill Memorial Park Cemetery in Minot, N.D.

Miss Olson, 88, died Wednesday. She was born in McKinney, N.D.

She graduated from Minot State Teachers College and taught in North Dakota before moving to Spokane in 1940. She taught in Veradale and in Spokane at Madison and Jefferson Elementary Schools, before she retired in 1971.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Alpha Delta Kappa, the National Retired Teachers Association and was a former member of the National Education Association.

She is survived by two nieces, Nita Korgel and Patricia McCarthy, both of Minot; four great-nieces and one greatnephew.

Service for Mabel Norma Maresh, 73, will be held at 10 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Maresh, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Sunday. She was an assembly worker for electronics.

She was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 51 Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Robert Maresh, at the home; one son, Steven Maresh Sr., and one daughter, Karen Nishiyama, both of Spokane; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Spokane.

J.D. Rae Spokane

Memorial service for J.D. Rae, 75, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Northwood Presbyterian Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rae, who died Wednesday, was born in Alberta.

He graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in commerce and worked for Consolidated Mining and Smelting for 15 years in Trail, British Columbia. He moved to Spokane and set up a local office which later became the Spokane office of Cominco American. He was the manager of corporate affairs and retired in 1980, after 39 years, as the company treasurer.

He was a charter member of Northwood Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elsie Rae, at home; one son, David Rae of Issaquah, Wash.; three daughters, Bev Hammons of Gresham, Ore., Barbara Bovermann of Dallas, Texas, and Joanne Ozee of Edmonton, Alberta; and three granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or Visiting Nurse Association.

Jacob Becker Spokane

Service for Jacob “Jake” Becker, 82, is planned for 11 a.m. today at the Church of God of Prophecy. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Becker, who died Sunday at his daughters home in Woodland Hills, Calif., was born in Beulah, N.D.

He and his wife moved to Spokane in 1957 and he worked as a mechanical machine operator.

He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

His wife, Rose Becker, died in 1991. He is survived by four daughters; Lucille Mays of Bullhead City, Ariz., Penny Leuschel of Fairfield, Texas, Jo Ann Becker of Ventura, Calif., and Carole Hartman of Woodland Hills, Calif.; three sons, Archie and James Becker, both of Spokane, and the Rev. Edwin Becker of Everett; one sister, Mary Renner of Mandan, N.D.; two brothers, Martin Becker of Mandan and Henry Becker of Rockford, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Joann `Patty’ Tagariello Spokane

Funeral Mass for Joann “Patty” Tagariello, 60, is planned for 9:30 a.m. today at St. Charles Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Tagariello died Wednesday. She was a lifetime Spokane resident and was a homemaker.

She graduated from Rogers High School and was a member of St. Charles Parish.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Phil Tagariello, of Spokane; three sons, Philip, Daniel and Michael Tagariello, all of Spokane; two daughters, Connie McGovern of Spokane and Kathy Tagariello of Atlanta; one brother, Bill Mast of Spokane; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Cancer Patient Care.

Amy Davis Spokane

Memorial service for Amy E. Davis, 94, is planned for 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall. Private burial will be at Peone Prairie Cemetery. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Davis, who was born in Greenbluff, died Tuesday. She lived in Spokane for the last 15 years. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Her husband, Clarence Davis, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sisters, Bessie Humphrey of Kimberly, Idaho, and Agnus Hutchinson of Spokane; three grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and four great-greatgrandchildren.

Mildred Kruger Spokane

Service for Mildred V. Kruger, 80, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery.

Mrs. Kruger, a 54-year Spokane resident, died Wednesday. She was born in Stanley, N.D., and was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was active in the Blockwatch program.

She is survived by two sons, Clyde Kruger of Ridgefield, Wash., and Norman Kruger of Spangle; three sisters, Edra Pfieffer of Dillingham, Alaska, Ieleen Tiisto of Stanley and Gladys Enget of Powers Lake, N.D.; and six grandchildren.

Frieda Becker Spokane

Service will be held for Frieda Becker at 10 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Becker, 79, died Tuesday. She was born in Mound City, S.D.

She lived in Spokane for more than 60 years and was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 2 and the Lutheran church.

She is survived by two daughters, Darlane Sander of Spokane and Pamela Morris of Stockton, Calif.; one son, Robert Becker of Spokane; one brother, Arthur Schlaht of Seattle; six sisters, Edna Lutz of Clinton, Wash., Ella Knapp of Langley, Wash., Clara Quenzer of Greeley, Colo., Mary Heiser of Coeur d’ Alene, and Vera Beck and Alma McGregor, both of Spokane; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children.

Florence Eacho Hayden Lake, Idaho

Graveside service for Florence Eacho will be held at 2 p.m. today at Riverside Memorial Park in Spokane. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Eacho, 76, died Wednesday. She was born in Pasco and graduated from Pasco High School.

She moved to Spokane when she was 18 and attended Northwestern Business College. She worked for Erna Bert Nelson Photography Studio as a bookkeeper and photo retoucher and in 1947 began work at Eastern State Hospital. She retired in 1977 and moved to Hayden Lake in 1983.

Her husband, Arthur Eacho, died in 1975. She is survived by one son, Jim Eacho of Coeur d’Alene; one daughter, Jennifer Marsh of Spokane; 12 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Idaho Cancer Center in care of Kootenai Medical Foundation.

Louise Camp Moses Lake

Memorial service for Louise Camp will be held at 2 p.m. today at United Methodist Church in LaCrosse, Wash. Private burial will precede. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Camp, 82, died Wednesday. She was born in Walla Walla and raised in LaCrosse.

She and her husband farmed in LaCrosse and moved to a ranch in Connell, Wash., in 1963.

She was a member of the Methodist church.

Her husband, Herbert Camp, died in 1992. She is survived by two sons, Larry Camp of Connell, Wash., and Dee Camp of LaCrosse, Wash.; one daughter, Sherry Lange of Quincy, Wash; two sisters, Pauline Mellon of Union, Wash., and Leona Andrus of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; seven grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Allen Couch Spokane

Memorial service for C. Allen Couch, 49, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Seely-Mudd Chapel at Whitworth College. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of cremation.

Mr. Couch died Wednesday from skin cancer. He was born in Whittier, Calif.

He graduated from high school in California and moved to Spokane. He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Whitworth College, and later, his master’s degree in psychology from Eastern Washington University.

He had operated a recreational rowing shell business in Spokane and was involved with the Gonzaga University Rowing Crew. He was also a psychologist for the Mead School District for 20 years.

Mr. Couch served in the Army Reserves and shot competitively on the national rifle team.

He was a member of the U.S. Rowing Association and Whitworth Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia Couch, two daughters, Andrea and Courtney Couch, and one son, Cameron Couch, all at home; his mother, Ruth Couch of Vancouver, Wash.; and one sister, Virginia Schanaker of LaCenter, Wash.

Jack Kincaid Moscow, Idaho

Service for Jack Howard Kincaid, 84, is planned for 10 a.m. today at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. Burial will follow at Pullman City Cemetery.

Mr. Kincaid died Wednesday at the Moscow Care Center. He was born west of Pullman, in the Ewartsville District.

He graduated from Pullman High School and worked for area farmers. In 1934 he went to work for the Whitman County Road Department, retiring as a foreman in 1974.

He was a member of the Washington State University Cougar Club, Moscow Elks Lodge No 249 and Pullman Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lulu Kincaid, at home.

Lenore (Krous) Kiourkas Spokane

Vigil service for Lenore M. (Krous) Kiourkas is planned for 5 p.m. Sunday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Kiourkas, who died Wednesday, was born in Deary, Idaho. She worked as a waitress and taught piano.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and Hillyard Senior Center.

Her first husband, Harold Krous, died in 1965.

She is survived by her husband, George Kiourkas, of Spokane; three sons, Michael Krous of Mesa, Ariz., Stephen Krous of Spokane and Thomas Krous of Rose Lake, Idaho; four daughters, Mary Covington of Holly Hills, Fla., Helen Perin of Medical Lake, Theresa Porter of Spokane and Kathleen Welty of Mesa; 26 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.

Elmer Kembel Ritzville, Wash.

Private memorial service for Elmer B. Kembel will be held at a later date. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kembel, a lifetime Ritzville resident, died July 1. He was 83.

He graduated from Ritzville High School and worked on his family’s farm. He and his wife moved to Tacoma where he worked in the shipyards during World War II. He also worked as a meat cutter. He and his wife returned to Ritzville in 1949 and farmed and he retired in 1973.

Mr. Kembel was a HAM radio operator, K7QF2. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 3 in Tacoma and Zion Congregational Church in Ritzville.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Kembel, at the home; one son, Thom Kembel of Ritzville; two brothers, Dan and Walt Kembel, both of Ritzville; two grandsons and two great-granddaughters.

June Hertz Athol, Idaho

Graveside service for June A. Hertz will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Mountain View Cemetery in Athol. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hertz, 45, died Wednesday from cancer. She was born in Belle Fouche, S.D.

She graduated from Kootenai High School in Harrison and attended Link’s Business College in Boise. She worked for Seafirst Bank in Spokane.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Emerson of Coeur d’Alene and Marc Emerson of Athol; her parents, Ray and Betty Grant of Athol; one brother, Jack Grant of Seattle; and two grandchildren.

William McDaniel Coeur d’Alene

Family graveside service was held Friday for William “Bill” McDaniel. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McDaniel, 78, died Tuesday. He was born in Salem, Ore.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1970 from Las Vegas and worked for Rosauers Grocery Stores, retiring in 1980. He had previously been a construction worker.

He was a volunteer driver for the Threshold Program with the Idaho State Department of Health.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy McDaniel, and one son, Roy McDaniel, both at home; one sister, Veda Abdie, and one brother, John Mantz, both of Bakersfield, Calif.
